They have served in various capacities in church since becoming “husband and wife.”

Richard and Kaye Orr.

Richard and Kaye grew up, met and married in Sydney. Both committed their lives to Christ during their youth. In 1980 they moved to Narrabri in northwest NSW; Richard to begin his Optometry career, and Kaye to begin teaching at Narrabri West Primary School. They found Narrabri Baptist Church almost immediately and have worshipped and ministered there ever since. Richard has led the music ministry in the church since his arrival and has been church treasurer and deacon for over 15 years. He was also been involved in the youth work.

He is currently (2009) the President of the Narrabri Ministers’ Fraternal. Richard owns and operates the town’s optometry practice and has just become President of the Narrabri Chamber of Commerce (2009).

Kaye’s passion is children and she has taught Sunday school and school scripture for many years. She has led youth bible studies and co-ran the church playgroup and youth groups, including a very difficult group from the local housing commission area. In 1982, Kaye left school teaching for motherhood and then in 1989 she started a dance school “Karar” which combined her loves of dance, teaching and children. This school has grown to around 130 students, aged 4 to 19 years.

Richard and Kaye have four adult children; all of whom have a strong Christian faith.

Richard is the Treasurer for Leadership Development Ministries Inc.
